This book is half leather (spine and corners are leather covered) with a pinkish linen cloth on front and rear covers. The book is in Very Good+ condition and was issued thus without a dust jacket. The spine joints of the book covers have w and rubbing, and there is rubbing to the spine ends and corners of the book cover as well. The spine of the book has a two+ inch spot of darkening to the the leather. There is some foxing to the linen cloth on the book covers. The text pages are clean and bright. There is a previous owner's inked name on the first free page, and another owner's bookplate on the front pastedown page. "George Wharton James (27 September 1858 – 8 November 1923) was an American popular lecturer, photographer, journalist and editor. Born in Lincolnshire, England, he emigrated to the United States as a young man after being ordained as a Methodist minister. He served in parishes in Nevada and Southern California, gradually beginning his journalism and writing career.
